Reporting To: Operations Director
 
Location: Office based in Cambridge, some national and international travel.

Our client has a requirement for someone to join their operations team managing the supply of components to their manufacturing plant in Cambridgeshire.

Responsibilities
 
Timely arrival of bespoke and standard components from the UK, Europe and China.
 
Cost control: continual improvement of BOM costs.
 
Supplier security: audit of supplier vulnerability, multi sourcing.
 
Supplier audit to ensure ongoing quality improvements are implemented.
 
Work with Production Manager and production team on stock management processes.
 
Work with the product design team on specification and alternative sourcing.
 
Work with our Chinese speaking R&D engineer and our contacts in China to get the best from our Chinese suppliers.
 
Attributes

You should have an engineering background
 
Be a good team player.
 
Experience of dealing with suppliers outside the UK, especially China
 
Experience of importing materials, processes, document handling.
 
Be comfortable with a purchasing budget of £5m p.a.
 
Preferably MCIPS
 
Familiarity with SAGE 200 and advantage.
 
Familiarity with the building industry, plumbing supplies, mechanical engineering and advantage.
